We’re looking for a Special Projects Manager to wrangle email and social network campaigns for clients. Previous experience makes you in a stronger candidate than those who haven’t used the plethora of web-based software out there, but we’ll offer training where needed. Don’t worry — you won’t create email design unless you want to, but an understanding of HTML email standards will help troubleshoot layout issues. The perfect candidate will be comfortable importing the content while thinking about best practices and delivery schedules.
I went to Boston to be a panelist at the How Design Live Creative Freelancer Conference. The panel addressed the joys and challenges of virtual teams to an audience of my peers; creative business owners like me and a smattering of really talented soloprenuers. As if it weren’t enough to “just be invited”, my name shows up on the same page as Malcolm Gladwell and Seth Godin. I will never be this famous again.
Aside from seeing friendly familiar faces and rubbing elbows with design elites, I’ll have a chance to do what I love to do — find better ways to work creatively. It’s no secret that I’m a Geek with a capital G. At the HOW Conference, I am among my people. It’s not quite ComicCon, but I blend in. And there is little that compares to the creative rush I get when I’m in a room with nearly 3,000 other incredibly talented and motivated creatives. I cannot wait!
Wanna take advantage of that post-HOW creative spark on my return? Give me a call (214-217-4299) or send me an email.
Business has been great this year, and we’re happy to add several new team members to our professional roster. Each person brings stellar creative skills, a “can-do” attitude and sense of service for our clients and projects.
Giba Group operates as a virtual team, with each team member in their respective office across town, or across the country. We work together remotely using online collaboration tools, and video conferences and email, of course. (The internet is a wonderful thing.) Look us up the next time you’re in East Texas, or Ohio, or New York.
The Dallas AIA Women in Architecture announced the contestants for the 2012 Express Yourself competition. The competition winners are formally announced Saturday, October 20 at the conclusion of the Texas Society of Architecture convention in Austin. The Express Yourself competition book will also be unveiled at that event. My digital art piece, “Sunny Day”, has been selected for publication.
There are so many talented women in this group. I’m certain I’m not one of them. It is just an honor to be nominated.
A Few More Details
I wanted to see what could be created with a digital canvas. I used Paper, an iPad app to sketch and “paint” this picture. The app is really easy to use, and encourages activity with its simplicity. Paper gives you just a few colors, and some brushes, a pen, pencil and eraser. But that isn’t any reason to think you are limited. If you haven’t tried Paper, give it a look and see what you create.
